Grosmont is a small village in the Esk valley - part of the North York Moors National Park, six miles from the seaside town of Whitby.
The station group helps to look after the station and is made up of volunteers, all of whom work on the railway in one way or another - from Booking Clerks & Station Foremen, to Catering Staff and our dedicated Gardening and Maintenance team.

Waiting for the Signal
Steam trains run by the The North Yorkshire Moors Railway operate from Grosmont to Pickering, with regular services running through to Whitby during the main season. Please visit the NYMR's official site - www.nymr.co.uk - for current running information.
Over 300,000 people visit the railway each year now, making Grosmont a very busy village once again. Engine sheds and workshops see high profile restoration projects completed at Grosmont MPD. The station has also made several TV appearances, for series such as BBC's 'Casualty' and ITV's 'Heartbeat'.
Over the course of the year, the NYMR stages a number of events and galas, most of which involve Grosmont Station and its Station Group. Details of this years events can be found on the NYMR's events page.
