The station group helps to look after the station and is made up of volunteers, all of whom work on the railway in one way or another - from Booking Clerks & Station Foremen, to Catering Staff and our dedicated Gardening and Infrastructure team.
A Country Station
Steam & heritage diesel trains run by the The North Yorkshire Moors Railway operate from Goathland to Pickering and Grosmont, with regular services running through to Whitby during the main season. Please visit the NYMR's official website at www.nymr.co.uk for current train running times and information.
The station group undertakes an extensive and varied programme of infrastructure work during the course of the year. Recently completed projects include the construction and fitting out of new workshop facilities as well as the construction of new litter bins for the station. Regular maintenence also takes place including painting the footbridge and the station seats. Take a look at the 'Infrastructure Projects' page to view our current projects.
Goathland has also become famous for its film and television appearances, most famously as 'Hogsmeade' in the Harry Potter films and as 'Aidensfield' in ITV's 'Heartbeat' series.
Over the course of the year, the NYMR stages a number of events and galas, most of which involve Goathland Station and its Station Group. Details of this years events can be found on the 'events' page.
